My candidacy as the Secretary of the PD
This evening saw the presentation of 2,961 signatures supporting me as a candidate for the position of leader of the PD at the Primaries on 14 October. Italia dei Valori knows perfectly well that choosing to take part in the process leading to the formation of the Democratic Party is ‘risky’ if you look at it with the eyes of those who are attached to their own back garden. And yet we want to give, with courage, our convinced contribution to this process because it’s no longer the time of one-sided choices and of subordinating the general interest to those of specific groups.
We have to put everything in play and bet on a more wide-ranging project, that can give back some air to Italian politics, rebuilding the trust of the citizens in relation to their representatives and the institutions, through a participation space that has new methods, new content and a new form of organisation.

Dico solo che la prossima volta ci pensero' non 2 ma almeno 10 volte prima di votare... che paese vergognoso! E poi si parla di ridurre la distanza tra politica e cittadini?

Living as immigrant in Germany and the Netherlands all my life I am following with great attention the forming of the new party PD as I find Italian politics a mess and hope this PD starts a process of improving the Italian Party-compositions. I was very pleased yesterday that you wanted to candidate for the PD's presidency. However I understand very well why the leaders of the Margherita-DS Committee ask you to dissolve your own party, or at least formally commit to do so after the PD comes to life. Is this the Italian way, that you and Pannella chose to candidate for the PD but in case of defeat go back to the save haven of your own party? Please commit yourself and your IdV to dissolve and adhere to the new PD and I will vote for you. Not accepting these rules the other parties have given themselves means that you want to have an advantage in the competition. Therfore if you tell the news today that DL-DS fear a real competitor you have to first accept the same rules. Otherwise nobody believes your intentions were genuine.
