Italia dei Valori supports Grillo’s Referenda on Information

The national elections are deeply influenced by the lack of true information. The citizens do not have the possibility of making up their minds on the programmes of the parties and furthermore, there is hardly any trace of some parties in the media. One of these is Italia dei Valori. Public financing of publishing makes it possible for newspapers like il Foglio and Libero to exist because of money from the citizens. These are effectively Berlusconi newspapers that are form an organic whole with him. A European verdict, coming after analogous Italian verdicts, decreed that Rete 4 must leave the frequencies that it occupies, so that they can be used by Europa 7. Nothing has happened and every evening Emilio Fede does his job as spokesperson for the PDL. This is not true democracy. In fact it’s not possible for a democracy to exist without free information. The current publishing/politics connudling must be eliminated. Italia dei Valori has decided to give its support to the three proposals for referendum: “Free information in a free State” laid before the Court of Cassation last Thursday by Beppe Grillo together with young people from his movement.
The three referenda have the objective of overturning:
- the Gasparri law about the balance of the radio-TV system that hands over to a single private individual (basically to a political party) half the national TV information.
- public financing for publishing that, in fact, make publishing subject to the parties
- the abolition of the Order of Journalists
The signatures for the referenda will be collected throughout Italy on 25 April. Italia dei Valori is offering, not only its support, but also its availability for operational support.
