Betraying the Voters
I’m publishing the video and the questions I was asked during the conference on Italia dei Valori’s programme for the current political situation in the country.
Antonio Di Pietro: We believe that the Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura {Council of Magistrates} has the right and the duty to warn the government that it is creating an unconstitutional law. Then we will collect signatures. Because we want it to be the citizens who weigh up whether it is just, or, as we believe, completely unjust that a President of the Council makes himself a law so as not to be on trial while he is on trial.
Journalist: The Centre Right is accusing you of being anti-Berlusconi and it accuses the magistrates of wanting to overturn the will of the people. They have been elected with a good number of votes.
Antonio Di Pietro: This government was elected by the will of the people to resolve the problems of the citizens. Instead, from the first day it has repeatedly and with great recidivism been trying to resolve the problems of some of them, starting with the President of the Council. They are betraying those who voted for them.
Shortly, there’ll be the whole text of the speech.
